Milia can develop in people at any age. They are tiny cysts that develop when keratin (a substance produced by the skin) is trapped underneath the skin’s outer layers.

Contact IPSA Medical for advice on any concerns that you may be experiencing over bumps or lumps on your skin, as our doctors do have a special interest in skin.

Milia can occur in every type of person: in either sex, of any ethnicity and in any age group. They are yellow or white dome-shaped bumps that range in size from 1–2 mm that are neither itchy nor painful.

Milia usually occur:

  • On the face
  • Around the eyes
  • Around the cheeks
  • Around the nose
  • On the forehead

Milia are hard to remove. Specialist tools are required for removal and the procedure should only be carried out using sterilised equipment. This then minimises the risk of infection and of scarring. Never try to remove them yourself – you may produce a scar.

At the IPSA Medical clinic, you will be seen by a doctor with a special interest in skin. Your IPSA Medical doctor will see and examine you immediately in a clean and quiet setting. The milia can be extracted during your consultation.

You with receive full after-care advice. We will also explain how you can prevent milia from developing in the future.

Contact an IPSA Medical doctor for advice on milia and to book your appointment.
